Basilica Saint Francis of Assisi 1 hour tour

Overview

The Basilica of Saint Francis in Assisi is a treasure that shows its splendor from the square in which it is located. Its spiritual and cultural value makes this building one of the most visited UNESCO monuments in the world. It not only houses the remains of Saint Francis, who was born in Assisi, founded the order, died and wanted to be buried there. It is also a gigantic book of images that narrate his life, the philosophy that inspired him and the greatness of his ideals. Scenes from the Old and New Testaments set in Italian cities 800 years ago were also made. Thus we see medieval knights and ladies at the feet of Christ on the Cross or the Last Supper celebrated around a table with plates, glasses, knives and jugs for water and wine. Beautiful women with light skin and golden hair who wear silk dresses and veils. A true “illustrated book” that our guide will help you decipher.
